The Youth Ambassadors Program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. As defined in the program description on the Youth Ambassadors website, this prestigious program is meant to “bring high school students and adult mentors from across the Western Hemisphere to promote mutual understanding, increase leadership skills, and prepare youth to make a difference in their communities.” In the summer of 2022, I went abroad to Brazil with 17 other Youth Ambassadors to learn more about the culture and community of Brazil. We visited many landmarks and places in Brazil to understand the country better. The Youth Ambassadors Program is an eye-opening experience for high schoolers to learn more about another culture and a great starting point for creating a project to help your community.
